Are you ready to create a “mini” spa-day facial from the comfort of your home? While I love a professional spa day, we don’t have to wait for the special times that we go and indulge in that. We can create a special ritual right at home to nourish your skin, your mind, and your soul. Sound good to you? Read on for all of my ideas for making this happen!
It’s so simple to recreate the steps that feel like a spa facial. Let’s start with the three simple steps, and then let’s chat about how you can elevate it to a spa atmosphere.
The First Step: Start this facial process with a clean face. You can create your own facial steam with dried herbs in a bowl of warm water. Grab some chamomile, rosemary, thyme, dried lavender if you happen to have that and soak them in the water! There are lots of great options that have different benefits and just smell amazing. You can then lean over the bowl and drape a towel over your head to capture the steam. Let the steam nourish your skin and enjoy the warmth! (Of course, be careful that the water is not too hot to burn you, and keep your face at least 8 inches away from the steam). Stay for about 10 minutes or whatever feels comfortable.
How to do a Facial At Home By Yourself
The Second Step: Next, splash your face with cooler water and dry. Then do a couple of different masks that have different purposes. When you get a professional facial, you always receive layers of treatments. So do this for yourself! It’s so nourishing for your skin, your stress level, and really your soul. What do you need right now? Maybe an exfoliating mask and a hydration mask? A detox mask and a nourishing honey mask? There are lots of options and it’s worth learning about what different masks can do, which will also help you become more in tune with what your skin needs. Rinse them off when the appropriate time has elapsed.
The Third Step: Finish with nourishing face oils, serums, and/or moisturizers, depending upon what you own and what your skin needs are at the time.
DIY Spa Day At Home
What are some fun ways to elevate this spa day at home?
Light a candle or have a diffuser with essential oils going.
Play some gentle, inspiring music. Maybe spa sounds, birds chirping, meditation music.
Pour your favorite drink, like a comforting tea or a relaxing glass of bubbly.
Draw an epsom salt bath and sit in the tub while your masks do their work.
Finish your facial experience with a face roller or gua sha stone for the ultimate facial massage. Are you not sure how to use facial tools? Be sure to check out my other blog post, The Skinny on Skin Tools. https://abundantbeautyco.com/2020/08/03/the-skinny-on-skin-tools/
I also created a free facial steam recipe and at-home spa day checklist. Would you like it as a free download? Send me an email or comment below and I will happily send it your way!
Of course, you could always add extra spa services to your spa day at home! If you have the time, give yourself a manicure and pedicure for a special treat!
Have you ever done this on your own? Will you try? I hope so! Let me know!
Cheers to self care and skin care, and stepping into your natural and abundant beauty!
